Some Twittervism Since Unlikely to Post for Another Week
I've been working on a longer essay over the last week or so that needs some work, and I won't have time for it over the next week or so. Here's hoping that some Twittervism will tide over the readers: Oliver North was part of the National Security Council during thrle Iran-Contra affair, which pretty much saved Reagan and his admin. With John Bolton on NSC, we're definitely in for a ride. . .maybe even a repeat. . .. So I might have had a hard time figuring out my project essays because my source material is pretty much 18th & 19th century philosophers & theologians twitter spatting/shit talking each other all over the place. Are people really baffled by North Korea trying to step away from peace talks with the US, especially with US pushing for total denuclearization? Can anyone say "pulling out of the Iran deal"? The president just said of undocumented people, "These aren't people. They're animals." So we’re all aware that to Trump’s supporters, his bigotry in referring to undocumented immigrants (in this case specifically referring to Mexican immigrants) as “animals” is a FEATURE not a bug, right? Bc they, like Trump, embrace dehumanizing Mexicans & other POC. Today is International Day Against #Homophobia, #Biphobia & #Transphobia—an important opportunity to reflect on the courage, compassion & civility we must all channel in standing up against discrimination targeted at the #LGBTQ community. #BeThere https://t.co/Y9g0PvLHug Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. Abolish ICE. https://t.co/6XhhMaSsJm Not to say that we don't have systemic issues, but following this dude's example, we can build the empathy and compassion in ourselves to compound the benefits of these one-time acts into permanent solutions. “The evidence is everywhere... Congress tolerates it all. This is consistent with constitutional rot.” Really worth reading this one again tonight. https://t.co/bxafE8IQwe [45] wants to release information on sources re: investigation of him? Is Scooter Libby advising him? At least in the US 2016 politics, left populists bought into the attacks on neo-liberalism. Now, I'm not a supporter of neo-liberalism, but it's than what we have now. None of the options were good but some were better, but the populists played purity politics. Then Brexit. . . Another issue of populism is that it generally requires a demagogue & cult if personaliyy, not a good, long-term solution. Look at Venezuela. Everyone was happy until the oil ran out. To seek mudita, the opposite of schadenfreude, is what we need to cultivate in the people of our society. We need to fight schadenfreude with mudita and confront the schadenfreude of bigots. “Grizzly bears exist today in the Yellowstone region because people made a conscious effort to make the space in our hearts and minds to co-exist with them and to bring them back from the brink of extinction. We can and must do better than this.” https://t.co/kQ2BJ3lY7O [Set up a monthly donation by end of today, and it will be 10X] This scientific visualization looks like a piece of modern art you might hang on your wall, except each color-coded stripe represents a year in the Earth's temperature. Blue is cool, red is hot. It's pretty obvious where things are headed. Details: https://t.co/CMyGnNqaGd pic.twitter.com/PYTzqhyfzk I kinda wonder if [45] deciding to stay out of these types of things is a favor to the people suffering. It sometimes feels like the current admin would only make things worse. https://t.co/A4J7Kotb4t Save Our Trolls[?] Trolling as Public Health Issue. https://t.co/4AewRMKG2H Provides some interesting light onto the issue. https://t.co/tbMz10jOBK I'm still kinda freaked out that I find out about new & hip music from @NPR. . .and even weirder, from economic/market-based shows, like @theindicator_. NP: Havena by Camila Cabello/Young Thug. Sign to join Senator Warren & other signatories take action against Wells Fargo (this is from October 2017 & still functions, so go for it!) https://t.co/LDfxaR26Gf People, not politicians, in Israel & Palestine trying to figute it how to make peace. One of the most interesting points that I don't think about but is important to do: Trust building. How much are trolls & bigots destroying everyday trust?https://t.co/mCdfgDbgVC For Pride Month I encourage all queer allies, whether in the LGBTQIA+ umbrella themselves or no, to: It’s an indictment of Congress and an insult to our democracy that we are not having immediate hearings and oversight. The GOP & conservatives should stop calling themselves "pro-life" and should start calling themselves "pro-privilege" because being anti-abortion isn't about life. If GOP & conservatives cared about life, they would do more support those living. Current dialogue in media about manipulating minds of people for good while stating that people don't know good & can't know good w/o manipulation frustrates me. Your thread helps me feel faith in humanity again. Addressing dialogue good, but humans have a basis for good. Th-you! In this day & age, an old article, but I think it does a good job of making an argument against the leftwing populist argument for addressing America's issues through JUST economic/class programs. Our soul is dark & corrupt, & we need to move past bigotry. https://t.co/iZgfGYY9zn It is not a law. Separating children from parents at the border is a new Trump Administration policy. It was not policy under Obama. It was not policy under Bush. It was not a policy under Clinton. We have to be clear about these facts. https://t.co/xE2FJfh1Ws As in ethical waivers? Here's the link to the waivers that the WH has currently. https://t.co/ftoxrOjS8S I don't get why the ACLU released this report now, 4 years after they completed data collection. Well, the Discovery Doctrine is a racist piece of history that I just learned about today would like to repudiate. Every time I hear the media refer to non-indigenous Americans as "natives", I want to puke. https://t.co/ELxd6e88aZ @Yankees fans boo @RudyGiuliani on his birthday pic.twitter.com/e6FeFxk2FH Who is angry with me on this one? https://t.co/dH1ptafNy9 Not to be discounted: In 1988 Primary, Jesse Jackson had gotten a lot of the white working class vote, too. MidEast Monarchs Look at the Trumps and See Themselves. Note to self: Don’t ever mouth off to @Dictionarycom. Because even I can’t throw that much shade. https://t.co/kAiauL4URy Hey thanks for listening. My job is not to be “positive” or “negative” but to tell true stories. Granted we may miss a story or get it wrong; but if "What they're saying is, 'I'm coming to the United States for refuge,' and what we are doing is saying, 'Fine, we'll take your children away.'" https://t.co/Dxo6zt6KnW @nprone @MorningEdition It really seems like calling a Black woman an ape is one of the things you should be allowed to call “racist” without a second thought pic.twitter.com/L4InWH8a1G [Rings true re: my observations of public sentiment (though my own opinion apparently differs from the public). Can anyone corrobate that this article's thesis is true re: public sentiment?] Wooh! Catching up on podcasts. The way that Cambridge Analytica "contractor" describes the company pretty much makes Bannon sound like Jules-Pierre Mao from The Expanse (and no wonder I've got Chairman Mao running through my head lately).https://t.co/XXYeipHdbQ [Wish I saw this article back in 2015, but it addresses my issues about the Sanders populist left and coins a great term that we need to use more: Trickle Down Justice. Didn't work. Need focus.] Maybe intelligence agencies should look into using Ambien to get peopld to reveal who they really are. Omg. I used to take Ambien! How many times was I racist in my sleep?! GIRL BYE. #ownyouractions [45] isn't "draining the swamp", he's polluting & poisoning the swamp. Let's hope gets impeached after 2018 elections, possibly the cleanest elections we'll have in awhile if [45] continues to destroy norms. This podcast (& old article about the best international defense is international aid/development) leads me to ask: Would a better immigration & defense policy be to aid & develop other countries in a humane but customized manner (allow socialism, etc)?https://t.co/2l3rScakJq Remember: Self-care is imperative. Explain why we needed 7 Benghazi committees for the tragic loss of 4 American lives and not 1 Congressional investigation of the tragic reported loss of 4,635 American lives in Puerto Rico.
In case you needed an example of what the language of ethnic cleansing looks like.
