Twittervism for Wednesday Night Virtual Dinner
Work kicking my ass this week. I've posted to social media more than I expected. Enjoy some Twittervism. [I find Vox's analysis of this topic the most useful out of them all. First sentence is awkward, but it makes sense by the end.] I’m a sexual consent educator. Here’s what’s missing in the Aziz Ansari conversation. - Vox https://t.co/Cl5meKlJnP [Look at Sen Graham perform linguistic acrobats to sycophant-hate [45]. I agree, [45] is a vengeful asshole, but he IS also racist & enabler of racists & bigots.] Is the Senate Majority Leader admitting to taking children as hostages? https://t.co/qddZIC2sRb Oh wow, Primary Campaigns will probably start in December. This is going to be a long tiring couple of years. It would be nice to have a boring, steady candidate that everyone likes. #Election2020 Who wants to tell him? https://t.co/ZIWZvVkMCO I have the the feeling this might be more about fundraising than a petition, but of you don't want to donate, just fill the petition part then stop. Or maybe the petition is a crock. I don't know. https://t.co/otQ261bPq0 If you want to HEAR about the story and some discussion. https://t.co/ZfbANiVrWa [First 2020 Dem Presidential Candidate, 6th MD Rep John Delaney, started a trend of donating pay during shutdown. Shows that his heart is close to the right place, at least.] Members of Congress to donate pay during shutdown - CNNPolitics https://t.co/FsOCL2dhB5 Though I call out @BarackObama for vote shaming the audience. As much as I want people to vote & agree that all people who can have a big responsibility, emphasis should be on politicians, parties, government, and organizations to INSPIRE voters to vote. Interesting background of Planned Parenthood, contraception, abortion, & how they're intersectional issues (and some other discussion) https://t.co/KAVgHHTAgW In the 12 months since his Inauguration, Donald Trump has confirmed the worst fears of the majority that voted against him, and dashed the hopes of those Americans who were tempted by his anti-establishment posturing and blustery promises. #TrumpShutdown Also, thank you, @repjohnlewis. Pretty good update on recovery in Puerto Rico, including some frustrating parts about how patronage politics are playing into it. https://t.co/0rEEDJnZEE Then again, Roosevelt had That Guy's wet dream of an electorate. Look! Non-white MIdwest Working Class people! https://t.co/wgtms5bFE1 Oddly, wallowing in compassion & empathy at one point in college consoled me during some personal pain. It felt shameful. Soon after college, I realized & vowed I needed to get my shit together to do something about those instances of pain, misfortune, & downtrodden conditions. [Stephen Miller is Wormtongue. GET HIM OUT! GET HIM OUT! Racism is an institution in Chicago, but racism isn't a Chicago institution. Despite the hype Chicago still isn't actually more segregated than every other American city. Or more corrupt. Or more violent. Please look in your own backyards more often. Dem voters: Remember, mid-terms are about the base. Ind voters usually don't come out. Usually Dems don't muxh, either. Primaries/caucuses should occur, too. Shutdown shows that the Party has divides. KEEP EYES OUT FOR ELECTIONS & VOTE TO TRY GETTING THE TYPE OF DEM YOU WANT. Some people I know in the US advocate for than the two parties that dominate the political sphere. What if our pattern is for radicals & reactonaries to pull so far to the Left & Right that the moderates are the ones who start new parties that have a level of success? Reading for the Uncanny Magazine favorite stories' poll? Try "An Abundance of Fish" by S. Qiouyi Lu! @sqiouyiluhttps://t.co/ZIBnCxDtiAhttps://t.co/Awt2gQXUDh pic.twitter.com/ifDqB19KdR [There's a study to support this.] White men get the most employee job referrals - MarketWatch https://t.co/t7anREphYd) The weekend shut down is probably more a feint/test case/threat more than an actual stance. Other than worrying some & annoying liberals, a weekend shut down doesn't really have too much affect on the nation, but both sides have idea of what can happen & Dems have some power. Or maybe the Dems had the weekend shutdown just to memorialize [45]'s first year as President. [Great. . .and I was just scared of epidemics when we should nee thinking climate change, too.] Scientists In Alaska Find Mammoth Amounts Of Carbon In The Warming Permafrost : Goats and Soda : NPR https://t.co/O3hx5yb16i [So a norm named after a convicted child molester is what's enabling hyper-partisanship in our government? Should I even be surprised?] The “Hastert Rule,” the reason a DACA deal could fail in the House, explained - Vox https://t.co/x3YOWbQQg7 Lesson being learned by this hyper-vigilant white guy: this SHOULD be the normal. To some degree, probably MUCH worse, non-privileged & marginalized people have been feeling some type of vigilance, too. It's just completely unaware privileged people that feel confident always.
